To begin a Texas Delta Epsilon Chi Chapter you will need:

An Advisor (may also be called a Sponsor) approved by your college or university. This person may be a faculty member, from the student activities department, counseling or recruitment department or other approved responsible institution employee. knitting supplies review

Members National DEX requires you to pay dues for 10 members and 1 Advisor. You do not actually have to have 10 members, but you must pay for 10 members. This dues membership fee is to cover administrative costs. The current national dues are $10 each and the Texas state dues are $5 each for a total of $15 annual membership fees per person. This equates to a minimum of $165 dollars per year per institution in membership fees. These dues (in check or money order) and names of members should be sent to National DEX at 1908 Association Drive, Reston VA . (Brand new Chapters have a two year time span to reach the 10 members/annual membership fee requirements.)  Please speak with the current Texas State Advisor or Board President about this procedure. WHAT IF I CANNOT FIND AN ADVISOR? Because not every college or university has a DEX Chapter, we often receive inquires from individual students about being a Texas DEX member with a college or university other than the one they attend. Unfortunately, this is not possible due to many liability issues. Your institution must approve an Advisor that will accompany your group to the conferences and competitions. The other duties of the Advisor will change depending on institution requirements and club needs. Some clubs are very independent and Advisor duties are minimal, other clubs are an integral part of a classroom experience such as using their class projects as competition events. Each institution has different guidelines, funding policies, traveling policies and depending upon these policies the Advisor’s role is different. Any student or potential Advisor may call or e-mail a current DEX Advisor for more information about Texas DEX activities.

WHAT IF I CANNOT FIND STUDENTS THAT WANT TO JOIN? This would be a rare experience. Generally, students are eager to participate in Texas DEX. Give them the website address to review and have them check out the National DEX website also. It is important to have a plan to begin early in the fall semester to recruit students to form a chapter and attend the Texas Fall Leadership and Development Conference. (Brand new Chapters receive the "two registrations for one price" introductory offer to the Leadership Conference.) This conference is the catalyst to kick off the entire year and will serve as the informational component for each chapter.
