Fall Leadership Development Conference

DEX Workshop Attire for the Fall Development Conference:

ALWAYS APPROPRIATE-for Friday or Saturday

Shirts with collar or Polo style shirts with collar
Dress slacks/skirts/dresses/blouses of appropriate length (mid-thigh or longer)

SOMETIMES APPROPRIATE-for Friday

Khaki preferred, but denim O.K. if clean, hemmed, no holes, no tears
Tennis shoes O.K. (must be clean)
Sandals with stocking or hosiery

NEVER APPROPRIATE:

NO--sweats, jogging suits, athletic wear/spandex, caps or hats, shorts, sundresses, backless dresses, halter tops or midriffs, tank tops, spaghetti straps.

The Texas DEX dress code is designed to maintain an atmosphere of professionalism at the Conference and in the workshops while providing the option for members to remain comfortable. The dress codes listed above are guidelines. It is important that each associate uses "good " judgment in his or her interpretation of what is considered appropriate "business casual" attire so we can maintain a professional working environment. asos number

Due to Friday being a travel day and a workshop day the dress code reflects a more casual dress for Friday. A more business type dress is required on Saturday. For those Conferences that include Thursday activities, consult with the host school Advisor for dress requirements.

(This is the attire that is expected for both State and National Conference)

Males

Suits

  • Dark conservative 2-piece suit (single or double breasted)

  • Acceptable shades are black or navy (solid is best)

  • Wool-blend if possible

Shirts

  • A white dress shirt

  • Long sleeve

  • Avoid cottons because they wrinkle easily

Neckties

  • Should be silk with a conservative pattern

  • No load colors

  • Width of ties should not be extremely wide

  • Length of tie should end near the center of the belt buckle

  • Never wear a clip on tie!

Socks

  • Should be dark (NEVER WHITE)

  • Sock should be knee high

  • Long enough so you will not reveal skin when seated

  • No design

Shoes

  • Leather shoes

  • Clean and polished

  • No boots, tennis shoes or hush puppies

  • Lace-up shoes are best

Jewelry & Accessories

  • Belts should be leather

  • Belts should match color of your shoes

  • Belt buckles should be small and not flashy

  • Jewelry is to kept to a minimum

  • A watch and one ring is a smart choice

  • Absolutely no earrings, tongue rings or other face rings.

  • No bracelets, no neck chains

A positive "first impression" is a lasting impression.  The way you present yourself absolutely influences your role-play or case study (and the decision to hire you).

Females

Suits

  • Solid button up jacket (single breasted or double breasted).

  • Skirt length should be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee and no longer than the middle of you shin.

  • Suit should be wrinkle free and freshly dry cleaned.

Blouses

  • Plain white or off white (cream color) shell shirt

  • No design on blouse

  • No turtle necks

Hosiery

  • The classic pump works best in business

  • Do not wear open toe shoes nor sling back shoes.

  • Heels should measure 1 1/2 to 2 inches in height.

  • Leather shoes rather than synthetic material convey a more professional image.

  • Recommended color is navy or black.

  • Make sure there are no scuffmarks on shoes or heels.

Jewelry and Accessories

  • Small earrings may be worn (no hoops)

  • One ring per hand

  • Absolutely no earrings, tongue rings, or other face rings.

  • A small necklace

  • No scarves

To make the best impression, carefully consider the garments to wear for an interview. A professional look includes clothes, make-up, hair, and accessories that work together to create an impeccable image. Remember that first impressions are made within 20-30 seconds upon meeting someone.
